Define

The Define screens are where you say what the process is measured against, before you analyze it: what the event log should hold, when the business is open, which cases belong together, what the process is supposed to do, and what things cost. You define each of these once, on its own screen, and every Analyze screen and every report reads the same definition - so two screens never give two different answers to the same question.

You do not have to define everything before you start. A project works on the log as loaded, with clock time and no rules. Add definitions as your questions need them.

The screens

Enrichments

Changes to the event log: a new column, changed values or activity names, or cases and events removed. Enrichments run in order from the log as loaded, and every screen, filter and rule reads the log the last one leaves - so a column you add here can be used everywhere else.

Working Calendar

When the business is open, the dates it is closed, and up to what moment an unfinished case is measured. Enrichments, the filters and rules that ask for working time, and AI reports and AI jobs measure durations with it. Performance, the process maps and predictions count clock time.

Filters

Named sets of cases, such as "cases that took longer than ten days". A filter changes nothing on its own. It is used when something asks for it: you apply it on an Analyze screen to look at only those cases, or a rule or an enrichment calls it by name.

Rules

What the process is supposed to do, stated one rule at a time. For every case a rule says met, broke or does not apply. Conformance shows the results, and reports that talk about a rule use its definition and its counts.

Costs

What one counted thing costs - a late day, a case that broke a rule, a repeated step. Nothing is priced until a costing report reads these costs.

The order to work in

The menu lists the screens in the order that works best:

1. Enrichments first, because everything else reads the log they leave. A filter or rule can only use a column that exists.
2. Working calendar next, so that any duration measured in working time is right from the start.
3. Filters, so rules and the Analyze screens can use them by name.
4. Rules, which can use your enrichments, your filters and the calendar.
5. Costs last, because a cost puts a price on something already counted - a rule broken, a day late.

On Enrichments, Filters, Rules and Costs you can describe what you want in your own words and let the product write it, or write it yourself. Whichever you choose, you see what it does on your data before you rely on it. The working calendar is set by clicking the hours on the screen.
