Creating Projects
When you create a project in BPMN Studio, mindzieStudio guides you with two ways to start: model a process by hand on a blank canvas, or upload pictures of a process and let AI build the BPMN diagram for you.
Overview
Every diagram in BPMN Studio lives inside a project. The guided new-project flow makes it easy to begin the right way:
- Start from scratch - opens a blank canvas so you can model your process by hand.
- Generate from a picture - you upload photos or screenshots of a flow, and the AI builds a BPMN 2.0 diagram for you automatically.
Both options are shown up front on the BPMN Studio projects screen, so the best way to start is always one click away.
When to Use Each Option
Use Start from scratch when you:
- Already know the process and want to model it yourself
- Are designing a new process from a blank slate
- Want full manual control over every element
Use Generate from a picture when you:
- Have a photo of a whiteboard sketch, a screenshot of a flow, or a diagram in another tool
- Want a head start instead of an empty canvas
- Prefer to upload what you have and let AI do the first draft
How to Access
BPMN Studio is available from the module selector after you sign in. Inside BPMN Studio, open the Projects screen. The two starting options appear at the top, and the New project button opens the same chooser.
Start from Scratch
- Choose Start from scratch.
- Enter a project name and an optional description.
- Select Create.
Your project is created and you can open the BPMN Editor to begin modeling.
Generate from a Picture
This option walks you through a short wizard.
- Name - give your project a name (and an optional description).
- Pictures - add one or more photos or screenshots of your process. Images (.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp) are the typical input; PDF, Word (.docx), and Visio (.vsdx) files also work.
- Review & start - confirm what will be built, then select Start building.
After you start, the diagram is generated in the background. You can leave the page and keep working - mindzieStudio emails you when the diagram is ready, and it appears under your new project. You can also select View progress to watch the generation live.
